Lynn Noga

I have been a calligrapher for more than 40 years, but always felt intimidated by those who had “artistic ability” that enabled them to create beautiful artwork with their lettering. I took art in school and could do basic things like shading a ball, but I struggled with the “creative” part of art. Tell me what to do and how to do it and I was fine, but coming up with something from scratch frightened me!

In Feb. 2011 I was at our Calligraphy Guild’s annual retreat, and saw a piece that our president was working on. She had lettered her daughter’s name, and was putting these neat little patterns between and behind the letters. It was so cool, so I asked her about it. She told me about Zentangle® and encouraged me to go to the website www.zentangle.com to check it out.

Needless to say, I was immediately hooked! Zentangle was the answer to all my fears!! All the guesswork was taken out of the process. The “tangle” patterns are there for me to randomly pick – I don’t have to come up with ideas! And, I could even use the pre-strung tiles if I needed to! I can do this!!!

I immediately learned as much as I could on the internet. The more I got into it the more I realized that I had to teach this and share it with others – I knew so many people like me who thought they couldn’t draw! In July of 2011 I traveled from Nashville to Huntsville, AL. to take a class with the closest CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher), Paula Dickerhoff. I wanted to see the process and make sure that teaching was the right direction for my life. I totally enjoyed Paula’s Basic and Advanced classes, and knew that I had found my calling.

I tried to get into the October 2011 CZT class, but it was full and I was put on the wait list. I was so disappointed, but timing is everything, and in February 2012 I went to Providence, RI for the 8th CZT training. I am so proud to finally be a CZT, and cannot wait to share my knowledge and love of Zentangle with others!

Lynn is a CZT, calligrapher, crafter, gardener, and most important of all – a grandmother! She is married and enjoys hiking and traveling with her husband. She is available for teaching a variety of Zentangle classes – both private and group sessions in basic and advanced classes, children’s classes and with youth groups, team-building sessions for work, and “home parties”. Email her for more info or see the Classes tab for currently scheduled classes.
